The 10-story “hospital for the future” serves as the new core of the campus of the University of Chicago Medicine.

Compassionate patient care is delivered in a comfortable setting that keeps families in mind.

Our new hospital marks an extraordinary step in clinical care: The best minds in medicine working in close collaboration, equipped with leading-edge technologies.

Patients, families, and staff feel integrated into the fabric of the city, with remarkable views of the University of Chicago campus and the city’s skyline.

The Sky Lobby houses general reception, family waiting areas, and more. The panoramic views and spaciousness will create a bright, uplifting, safe environment for all visitors.

Construction on the 10-floor building began in May 2009. Its modular design means that its interior can be continually transformed to adapt to medicine’s newest challenges and opportunities.

Our new hospital provides patients and their physicians with a facility capable of transforming itself as rapidly as medicine itself is changing. Its design is committed not simply to today’s ideal, but to a vision of perpetual and unpredictable change in patient care and clinical research. This future-oriented vision is built on the University of Chicago’s fundamental commitment to discovery, innovation and collaboration. Learn More
